Ida Koczor

Ida Koczor

Ida Koczor’s journey into Ashtanga yoga began in 2014, when she established a dedicated daily practice at the age of 16. Her passion led her to study at the prestigious KPJAYI, now known as Sharath Yoga Centre, in Mysore, India, where she received her Level 2 Authorisation to teach under the guidance and blessing of R. Sharath Jois in 2022.

Ida’s commitment to deepening her practice and teaching skills is evident through her extensive studies. She completed a month-long teacher’s intensive with renowned teachers Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor in 2022, and a 200-hour practitioner’s intensive with Kino Macgregor and Tim Feldmann in 2018. She has also had the honour of assisting world-renowned teachers Philippa Asher, Hamish Hendry, and Tim Feldmann.

Ida has completed the primary, intermediate, and Advanced A series of Ashtanga and is currently learning Advanced B with Certified teacher Philippa Asher. Her dedication to continuous learning takes her back to Mysore every year to study with lineage holder R. Sharath Jois.

In addition to her Ashtanga practice, Ida is a dedicated Sanskrit and yoga scholar. She earned an MA in South Asian Studies and Intensive Sanskrit from SOAS, University of London in 2022, where she specialised in yoga history. Her dissertation focused on the role of breath in early haṭhayoga texts.

Ida’s teaching philosophy centres on finding strength within softness, maintaining precision and alignment, and establishing a safe, sustainable, and lifelong practice. She emphasises concentration through the principles of tristhāna and the learning of Sanskrit vinyāsa counts, guiding her students toward a deeper connection with their practice.
