New Mysore teacher Kaz castillo

Kaz Castillo loves the transformational power of yoga and the poetry of life that plays out in daily practice. She is a student of R. Sharath Jois of KPJAYI in Mysore, India and regularly returns there to study at the source of ashtanga yoga; she is authorized (level II) by him to teach from the traditional method.

A Filipino-American, Kaz started teaching in the Philippines in 2008. Her yearly trips to India soon transformed into a life of traveling and teaching. In 2013, Kaz started facilitating retreats and guest-teaching for various mysore programs in Japan, San Francisco, Barcelona, Vienna, Romani and Malaysia. In 2016, she founded Mysore Zamalek, a daily ashtanga program based at the heart of Cairo, Egypt and continues to teach there, loving the alchemy of this grounding yoga practice with the spontaneous flow of the Middle East and North Africa.

(Her background as a writer and a spoken word artist adds a poesy to her instruction- style, while years of teaching Middle School has translated to having greater sensitivity in a mysore space.)
